Marvene and I chartered a private, open-door helicopter to fly over the southern coast of Iceland and into the Highlands. We wanted to photograph from the air without reflection from the windshield. This shot captured the runoff from the Tungna River. The patterns are formed by glacial meltwater weaving through black volcanic sand, creating that silky, dramatic look.
