In 2013, I experienced my first National Geographic Photography Expedition, called Hiking the Grand Canyon. It was an enjoyable trip, combining travel, photography, and the great outdoors. I climbed up on this overlook and stood precariously for several minutes to survey the majestic canyon below, then hiked several thousand feet down into the canyon. I was standing on level ground below when my shoelaces somehow got tangled up. I stumbled and hopped around and almost fell down. If that had happened when I was balanced on this rock, I would have surely fallen over the edge. God was watching over me.
