Snow-capped Mount Fuji rises majestically above autumn trees against a vivid blue sky in Japan.

Marvene and I, and the Perrys, arranged for an excursion to Tokyo, Japan following our 2024 Oceania Cruise through Southeast Asia. Our primary goal in Japan was to photograph Mt. Fuji. The concern we had was whether the weather would cooperate this time of year. There is a phenomenon called Orographic Lifting, which occurs when warm air rises up the side of the mountain and mixes with the cooler air at higher altitudes, causing clouds to form around the top of the mountain. This hides the mountain peak and can be frustrating for photographers trying to capture the mountain in its entirety. We were thankful to have had clear views of Mt. Fuji the entire day.
