When I booked this trip, my singular focus was on photographing a polar bear, and that went much better than I could have imagined. And then, an unexpected treat: an entire afternoon walking among and photographing puffins.
On our very last day sailing inside the Arctic Circle, we stopped in an area called Gasoyane, which is part of Svalbard, Norway. We stepped onto a small island where Atlantic Puffins had recently migrated. This was an entirely new destination for our excursion ship. We were some of the first tourists to set foot on this island. It was truly a privilege to have this unique and unexpected opportunity.
