This wrangler was finishing up a long day of driving his cattle from one pasture to another just outside South Fork, Colorado. As we were waiting for the herd to cross the road, Brenda Perry and I got out of the car to photograph this unexpected scene. The cows were spread out, so we couldn’t get a compact shot of the entire herd. However, we managed to photograph the cowboy as he was herding the last few cows up to the gate. Both the wrangler and his horse seemed exhausted, as evidenced by their posture. If you look closely at the photo, you may see the band of sweat around the rim of the wrangler’s hat.
