James and I climbed the mountains of Rwanda, Africa to photograph the same silver back gorilla families that Dian Fossey lived among and wrote about from 1966 until her death in 1985. These amazingly docile creatures weigh around 450 pounds and can lift twice their weight. We stood beside them, walked on their trails, and could have reached out and touched them as they brushed by us.
