Imagine my surprise the first time I saw these ten Cadillacs buried on end in a pasture just west of Amarillo. I had heard of them before but had never seen them. They were installed in 1974 as a joint project between the eccentric owner of the ranch, Stanley Marsh 3, and two offbeat architects who had formed a company called Ant Farm. Tim, Andy, and I made a last-minute decision to stop there as we were driving back from our first photography trip together out west. There were many tourists walking around the cars, but I managed to catch a quick shot as everyone was walking in between the cars and out of my line of sight.
