Panoramic view of traditional Moroccan mountain village nestled in Atlas Mountains with lush green vegetation below.

We stayed in a beautiful hotel in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. This village was the view from our hotel. Some of the National Geographic guests hiked up to the village, while Marvene and I hiked to a waterfall about a mile or two from our hotel.

An earthquake struck this area a year before our trip. Many of the local homes and businesses were severely damaged. Fortunately, there were no deaths in this village caused by the earthquake, although many people were still living in tents near their villages.

It is a beautiful area, and the people are lovely.
