It is difficult to describe, or even imagine, this rugged, harsh environment. Their summer months (our winter months) bring sunshine, fairly moderate temperatures and generally calm seas.

We explored the peninsula of Antarctica, landing on some of the same locations as the great explorers, like Sir Ernest Shackleton with his boat, the ill-fated Endurance. It was a rare privilege to be able to dine and dwell in luxury while sailing to the continent of Antarctica, and to the islands of South Georgia and the Falklands. Antarctica has no indigenous people, nor are there any permanent residents. The entire continent hosts slightly over one hundred thousand visitors each year.
