The sea tides are dramatic in Juneau, Alaska. When the tide goes out, fish are left stranded. These fish are easy food for birds and other predators. The locals say “the table is set” for the hundreds of eagles that then feed on the stranded fish.
This eagle watched me carefully as I ventured closer and closer. My mentor at that time, Larry Pullen, encouraged me to tightly crop the image, revealing the intensity of the eagle’s gaze. I am flattered that he has a framed copy hanging in his home office.
